Dos pilotos se olvidan de aterrizar en medio de una discusión sobre política

Dos pilotos de la línea aérea estadounidense Northwest Airlines discutieron durante un vuelo entre San Diego (California) y Minneapolis (Minnesota), olvidaron que tenían que aterrizar y se dieron cuenta 230 kilómetros mas allá de su punto de destino.

Los pilotos revelaron a agentes de la Oficina Federal de Investigaciones (FBI) y la policía del aeropuerto que "estaban enfrascados en una airada discusión sobre política de la línea aérea y que se olvidaron por un momento de la situación". Fue tal la intensidad de la discusión que ni siquiera respondieron a las llamadas radiofónicas de los controladores aéreos.

El avión, un Airbus 320, realizaba un vuelo entre las ciudades de San Diego y Minneapolis con dos pilotos, tres auxiliares de vuelo y 144 pasajeros. El incidente ocurrió cuando el aparato se encontraba a unos 12.000 metros de altura.

Finalmente aterrizó sin mayores inconvenientes a las 20.01 de la noche, una hora y cinco minutos después de lo previsto. Los dos pilotos han sido suspendidos a la espera de los resultados de la investigación, dijo un portavoz de la línea aérea.
